Infantry Skirmishers are ranged infantry that throw typically javelins or spears in combat against enemy troops, when massed they are quite powerful as long as they can keep their distance from melee units and especially enemy Cavalry. They typically are lightly armored and hit heavily but very agile on their feet but suffer from less range than most ranged units so will need to get closer to enemy formations, their promotions will help keeping them out of harms way. Promoted skirmishers will typically improve their range, accuracy, hitpoints and a slight boost in armor while making them slower and less capable in gathering resources.
Infantry Skirmishers are produced at both the Civilization Center and Barracks.
